Our final mileage tally is 7708.9 miles.

Highest temp was 109, lowest temp encountered was 49 (night time temp)

On the whole, the weather was great for late July/August. It politely rained overnight, or after we were tucked into our hotels for the day.

We spent a whopping $10,868 in total, which breaks out as:

$6507 for 29 nights of accommodations, an average of $224 per day, including tips. We did get breakfast included for 18 of the nights. This was higher than we expected, although we did splurge for a couple of higher end stays (on Vancouver Island and in Santa Fe) that also pumped up the total a bit.

$2203 for dining out. We did have COVID for the last week, or it would have been higher. We also got taken out for some of our meals by generous friends and family.

$1396 for transportation. We drove our own car, so the costs were gas, and a couple of ferry rides. Most expensive gas was California (over $6 a gallon), cheapest was Texas ($3.13 a gallon), but we did find several states with below $4 a gallon.

We spent $212 for various tickets, entrance fees, etc. Super cheap, but we were primarily visiting friends, not doing traditional tourist things.

$243 for groceries. We did end up buying some snacks, microwave meals, etc. Sometimes you don't want to eat out, even when you can.

$259 for shopping. We bought a couple of t-shirts, and we did visit Powell's Books.

the rest was miscellaneous stuff like quarters for laundry.

Our total average daily spend for two travelers, all inclusive, was $339.65.

We logged every penny of expenditure, using the TravelSpend app. Biggest surprise was hotel costs, which were higher than we expected. To help balance that out, we spent less on gas than I had anticipated.
